Newly published results from a long-term study into the causes of cardiovascular disease link eating wholegrains, such as porridge oats, to a reduced risk of heart disease, obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Eating three servings of wholegrains a day is also found to be linked to smaller increases in waist size and lower blood pressure and blood-sugar levels among adults in middle-age or older, by the researchers at Tufts University in Massachusetts.
